Hyperion and Disney Interactive’s Babble.com, a leading parenting site dedicated to the “truth in parenting,” today announced plans to publish an original e-book series that will feature crowd-sourced stories from real parents and that will address important issues for a new generation of connected and engaged parents. The first e-book in the series, PARENTING, UNCENSORED: STRAIGHT TALK FROM REAL MOMS AND DADS ON BREASTFEEDING, is set to debut on April 30, 2013, and a more all-encompassing guide to pregnancy and the early years of parenting will be released January 2014.
Each e-book in the series will include some of the best advice for parents from Babble editors and 10 personal, unfiltered stories from “real moms and dads.” Rolling out topics sequentially, over the next several weeks Babble will provide readers with the opportunity to vote for their favorite posts from across the parent blogging community within each subject category. Nomination pages are now live and located here (http://www.babble.com/mom/best-of-blogs-campaign/). Babble will also cross-promote on its Facebook page, driving users back to the site.
The announcement of the new partnership was made by Ellen Archer, President and Publisher of Hyperion. Of the deal, Archer said, “We’re excited to be working with the top site for moms on a series of e-books for today’s plugged in generation. They are truly tapped into a community of honest, unguarded parents with real, useful advice.” Elisabeth Dyssegaard, Editor in Chief, negotiated the deal with Babble co-founder, Rufus Griscom.
Griscom said, “We are invested in building the individual brands of our bloggers, and see this e-book series as another opportunity for bloggers to expand their reach and brand.”
Since its inception in 2006, Babble has become one of the most celebrated parenting sites on the web, named by Time Magazine as one of the 50 Best Websites of 2010 and by Forbes as one of the Top 100 Websites for Women.
