In the 1950s and 1960s, Walt Disney produced several animated featurettes that explored the possibility of space travel. In the parks, Tomorrowland at Disneyland and Walt Disney World also emphasized scientific breakthroughs—some literal, like breaking through the Mighty Microsope into the world of Inner Space.
Then, in the 1970s, Disney produced educational films introducing scientific concepts to young minds. And in 1982 came along the pinnacle of Disney’s fascination with innovation when EPCOT Center (now Epcot) opened, which continued Disney’s tradition of celebrating science and discovery.
